"Ramp" for sewer line?

I have a friend ask if we bought a ramp for our sewer hose. I have never heard of this or seen anyone talk of this on here. She thought it was pretty necessary. Comments? Thanks!

  • Been using this for yrs. now Clicky just carry some wood blocks or the plastic leveling blocks for support.
Before that we had a Slinky, fought with a couple times and threw it in the trash, it was a pain in the butt to setup.

I've never used one but they're not a bad idea if you're hooked up to sewer for long periods at a time. Even with sewer hookup, I keep my hose put away and pull it out only to dump.
  • It's really simple S&*% runs down hill. Sometimes the inlet to the sewer (full hookup campground) is above the level of the ground. So the sewer hose goes from the RV to the ground (all is good) but then has to go uphill to enter the inground drain (not so good). You will wind up with a "stuff" in the hose. You can "walk" the stuff to the drain by raising the hose starting at the camper towards the sewer inlet if you don't have a ramp.

PS I noticed your new. When at a full hookup campground do not leave the black tank drain open. When about 3/4 full or before you leave open and drain.

PS PS I finally bought a "ramp" got tired of "walking" the hose.

  • Never have used one in 40 years of RVing.

I like to keep som of the stuff in the hose to provide a barrier from sewer gases coming back up. Leave the grey water valve open and the blackwater valve closed. Like others have said drain the black water tank when it's near full and pick up the hose to empty it into the sewer connection end before disconnecting.
  • We stayed at a park in El Mirage (west of Phoenix) that required them in their rules, but they weren't enforcing it. DW read the rules to me as we were leaving.

  • What they are probably talking about is one of these.

It keeps the hose off the ground and makes a better slope for the sewer hose to drain.
  • I don't use one. After I dump I pick the hose up and empty it , while it's still connected to the RV and sewer
I do see some using them, it's just not for me. I've never had any problems by not using one but, it probably does protect the hose from getting damaged while laying on the ground.
  • Go to Camping World online and search 'sewer hose support'. Handy device and pretty essential.
