RV park or resort?

To be honest, it is nothing but a name. That said, I have found that many of the "Resorts" seem to have the utilities on the wrong side, or in non standard locations.

An RV Resort, will usually have many amenities. Like a pool, indoor, and out. Play grounds, Minigolf, Restaurants, ice cream stands, Arcades, Lazy Rivers, hiking trails, Spas, and things like that. You would be able to stay a week, and never leave. Everything you would need is there.

My personal minimum is 30A FHU, WIFI, cable and enough space so I can't touch the camper next to me while still inside my own. I've stayed in places that had concrete pads, pools, propane, laundry and/or a daily paper delivered to my site and consider those pluses.
Also stayed at one place that had a well stocked store, concrete patios with furniture, riding stables, a playground, a restaurant, a snack bar, a pizza place, and free pancake breakfast every day. It was nice but I chose not to join in because I'm gone every day and inside at night. And I don't care if its called a park, resort or campground. Those don't mean anything - good or bad.

There are some who call themselves RV resorts which are the furthest thing from a resort.

To me a resort has wi-if,cable,big sites with paved sitting area,full hookup with 50 amp, a nice size pool, restrooms, laundry, store, many with a restaurant on site. Well maintained and groomed landscaping. Usually they are $50 a night and up.

A RV park we've found could be nothing more than a campground with not more than a outhouse.

So it pays to research where you plan on staying ahead of time.

I visit a lot of different places. COE and Forest service Campgrounds are all about the surrounds.. The park itself has basically one "Service" and that is the "Comfort Stations" as one of the parks I stay at calls them. (Showers and toilets).

May have swings or slides.. But the 'Attraction' is the lake or river or forest or something that you need not be in the CG to enjoy.. the CG is just parking.

A "Resort" usually offers something more.. At the very least a swimming pool.

And where I am now they call it a "Preserve" this means that there is at least one "Nature" exhibit somewhere in the park.. This one has several of them.

Oh, it has a swimming pool as well.

And a mini golf course

And a lake

And bath houses (Restrom * shower).

and a laundry

And WI-Fi

And good people

ANd no budget
And busted plumbing after last week's freeze they are still mopping up from

As said you never know. That is why we live by www.rvparkreviews.com It is a rating and summary by real people like us not a brand. We read others opinions and never leave a park without rating it ourselves. That works well for us

There is no defined difference. Anyone can name their park what they want.
I have seen "RV Resorts" that were close side by side (sardine as you say) sites. Generally they will have a few more amenities, but don't necessarily count on larger spaces. But I have also seen some that were pretty darn nice.
And I have seen "RV Parks" that were also pretty darn nice. But also some that were barely worth an overnight stay.
It is a******shoot unless you do a lot of advance searching for actual previous user comments. And even then, what one person rates very highly, another warns to stay away.

CG....state/national park/city park, can have FHUs but sites are usually well spaced and some what private
RV Park......can be grassy sites, dirt roads, paved roads, concrete pads, typically FHUs, sites are decent but close, can have pool/play ground etc. (KOA is an example)
RV Resort......Pools/spas, BBQs at site, fire places, concrete parking, grassy manicured sites, fancy landscaping, hooty-tooty, etc.

Been in a few that called themselves 'Resort' but where really just parks. Been in a few that called themselves 'Parks' and really could have advertised as 'Resort' due to the amenities.

You'll know which is which when you pull in.
