I know the owners of one of them. The wife is pleased that her husband's "bookmobile" was written up in a local broadsheet (it's IMPOSSIBLE for me to call the NYPost a newspaper) since it shamed him into dumping the contents in an upstate storage unit.

A couple of years ago, we went to NYC and took our travel trailer. It was 2 years old, 35' long bunkhouse. A really nice trailer. We were staying at Liberty Harbor and when we went in for the night, there were sites on either side of us that were empty. We heard a rig pull in before we went to bed, but then didn't hear a thing.

We got up the next morning and our humble little TT was sitting between two big huge, new PREVOST motorhomes!! You talk about feeling like "trailer trash"!

The families in both of these were very nice and we spoke to them at length about our travels and theirs while we were there.

I've been combing the internet looking for places in FL. I saw that mentioned on one site but it was at the discretion of the park owner. My Winnie Minnie C is a 1998. It's in ok shape IMHO but with so many fancy rigs out there my parking next to one of those makes mine look sad. I'm wanting to go to FL for the winter. It will be just me and 2 dogs. I have been looking at RV parks and state parks. State parks will probably be where I end up for the most part. I won't have to worry about what mine looks like.

I went into a private CG on the Oregon coast that used to be very popular due to the location. It was kind of run down and a developer(for lack of a better description) bought the park and UP GRADED it and sells, leases and rents spaces. The cost was several times the cost of many coastal parks including CA.s $65 a night parks and all they did was paint, landscape and lay new crushed gravel on the road and sites. They do not discriminate against any age rigs only against folks who can't afford to pay over $100 per night.

It was the most expensive CG we have ever looked at and the prices keep the Riff Raff like Sharon and me out.

I think they are very unusual and not all that much. Ft. Stevens and many others will even deliver you firewood to your campsite and many other neat things, it's pretty darn inexpensive too. They let us in and just about everyone else.

Do not worry about the 10 year rule. There are not many that have it and if they do, they often let you in if the RV is well kept. Personally, I think they should just state that they have the right to refuse an RV over 10 years old if it is not well maintained. In my opinion, having a hard rule is just laziness on the part of the owners. They do not want to have to do the evaluation.

I also have no problem with the RV in the picture. There are horrible people in Prevosts and good folks in older RVs. Not all of us can afford to purchase a new RV every 10 years.

Some do have the rule, so I have heard.
I have never encountered one.
When and if I do, one of the benefits to being on wheels is that I can go on down the road.
They question the age of my rig? On down the road!
They only allow one pet in an RV? On down the road!
They have any other rules I don't like? (no firearms, no beer, whatever) On down the road!
(actually, I seldom have firearms unless going to the mountains, but I almost always have beer. I just object to them trying to tell me what I can carry in my traveling home!)

That's actually not too bad...I've seen much worse in some parks! And it would look better if he would tint the windows.

We've only been to one park that adopted a 10 yr rule. And it's only for long term (more than a month). Daily campers are exempt. In all of my research on parks, I've never come across any other tthat had the rule...

There seems to be a few 10 year rule RV parks in southern CA and southwest. The great majority are not. For practical purposes, a well kept year 2000 motorhome is nearly indistinguishable from a 2005. In all my travels I have never been asked for registration or other documentation about age of my RV-including at 10 year rule parks. Nutshell: keep it nice and fib about the age.

Semi on topic-but not critical for 10 year rule. One thing which really ages RVs in my opinion is the way the plastic headlights yellow and become cloudy. Some beautiful rigs have that as their only cosmetic blemish-and it is a performance issue too. People have varying success with polishing the lenses but it generally lasts a while and they look great. Another option is to ID what common car/truck uses the same parts and search online for inexpensive replacements. Due to how common this problem is, cheaper sources are cropping up.
