RV Waste Disposal?

Hi, I am actually not an RV owner (although I have thought about it as I am reaching retirement age!) but I wondered if someone could help me.

I bought a house from someone who had an RV and there is an open hole near where they parked it lined with a 3 1/2 inch PVC pipe.

I assume this was waste disposal and I'm wondering what I have down there. Is it a cesspool? A septic tank? Or just a hole in the ground? Is it likely both solid and liquid waste was disposed of there?

I was actually thinking of using to drain my hot tub so as not to pour chlorinated water into my garden. But I thought I should know more about it first before I cause a catastrophe!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Rod

I would expect it to connect to whatever sewer system your house is on. Doubt it is just a hole in the ground he was dumping sewage into. Go in the house and turn on the bathtub. Then come outside and listen to the hole. I would expect you will hear the water draining.

    Ditto! 2x agree.

  • Hard to say...is you house on a municipal sewer system or a septic tank - drain field?

It very could be some kind of RV dump that the previous owner rigged up..Where it goes.... hard to say without closer inspection????
