Schwintek slide out making new noise

I have a Grand Design Reflection with a Schwintek system in the bed room slideout. It has stated making a new a different sound like a slapping sound. This sound staring is only when sliding out beginning about half way out. What could be causing this and should I be concerned?

  • Keith - Do you have anyone who can stand outside and try to pinpoint the location of the noise while the slide is being activated? My first thought is that it could be a seal slapping or dragging.
  • Thank you for responding.

    I have greased the rails.

I have been on the outside and inside. Does not appear to be a seal flap. The sound seems to originate from the motor in the upper left corner (looking from inside).
  • I had a scraping noise when moving the slide. What I found was that when the hole through the frame where the actuator passes through was cut they left the oblong piece of steel inside the frame. It was able to move a little bit. I cut a piece off of it and it moved towards the rear. All seemed good till it slid forward and the noise came back. I disconnected the actuator, tied it up, tried to remove the piece. It would not come out, I clamped it to the frame and cut pieces off with a sawsall until it was small enough to remove, took about 3 hours. All is well.

    Good Luck

I am a new first time Schwintek slide owner.

Is slide maintenance supposed to be grease or that spray dry stuff with PTFE?

It is supposed to be CRC Powerlube with PTFE "only"
