Second water hookup.... What is it for?

Hello everyone. I'm new to rv'ing and just bought my first 5th wheel a month ago. While hooking everything up I noticed a second water hose connection. My freshwater connection and my holding tank spout are side by side but this one is lower on the trailer, between my black and gray water tanks. Also, it has a one way valve inside of it. Is this to flush the tanks? The trailer is a 1991 holiday rambler aluma-lite.

  • Might be the the water holding tank fill. I'm e has 3. 1 City water from camp from camp ground. 2 black tank wash down. 3 potable water holding tank.

My "water inlet" is the black tank flush. It's possible that it was installed aftermarket, and that was the label on the hose connection that they installed. I bought it used.

    that 'splains it.

  • Our RV has the black tank flush inlet lower down and near the tank. I found out the hard way that it is also an in your face black tank is FULL warning. First it smells and then overflows. There ought to be another one at 3/4 full with a clear plastic hose on it so the stuff doesn't actually come out on the ground.

That's probably what it is.. Mine is confusing. One says "City Water", and the other says "Water Inlet" .. I had to have someone help me at the campground the first time I was out to figure out what was going on.

my city water is for hooking the hose from the spigot at the campground. the water inlet is a gravity fill inlet.

Hook it up after you drain the black tank turn it on if water comes out it's the tank flush.

Also realize that sometimes these flush nozzles get clogged for one reason or the other, so this test may not be absolute.

  • That's what I'm thinking. I just don't want to mess with anything I don't know anything about. One thing I've learned about owning an rv is that almost everything has to be done a certain way.
