Your minivan will be able to handle a small TT. I agree, the previous transmissions in Chrysler minivans showed problems and I've read that inadequate cooling was one of the contributing factors.
From a generic standpoint, a minivan is a very stable tow vehicle with low center of gravity and fairly long wheelbase. You could tow something like the KZ Sportsmen Classic or Spree Escape, but there are better options if you can afford them. A Scamp 16' or Escape (Chilliwack BC) 17' or similar molded-fiberglass TT will tow noticeably easier because of the rounded edges and lower, narrower profile... less frontal area, less wind resistance. Another good one to look at is the Safari Alto, built in Quebec. Some people up your way tow Airstreams with minivans, too.
If you want to know what your minivan really can do, contact Can-Am RV (in Toronto, IIRC). They can advise you and can add modifications to your minivan that could enable you to tow even more.
