I have a feeling that if we lived out WEST with many hours of high SUN and lots and lots of clear weather that I could satisfy our OFF-ROAD camping routine here on the East side of the US.
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way here on the EAST side so we have to use the Generator as primary charging source and solar panels as supplemental charging source. The solar panels will reduce our need for the generator for about ONE HOUR aas i am figuring it out which is great for us... I will need the generator running the trailer to get past the original high DC CURRENT charge demand of around 52AMPs DC CURRENT when they are intitial hit with the 14.4VDC DC Charging voltages. AFter that tappers back then the Solar Panels here on the EAST SIDE should be able to get us to our required 90% charge state before we lose the high SUN. This is the game plan at any rate...
If my camping routine only required flashlights and candles then no problem haha... We normally see around 20AMPS DC CURRENT being pulled on a continuous basis from our battery bank between the hours of 6PM and 11PM running all of our 120VAC toys... This doesn't take in any heating items - just toys...
Being OLD SCHOOL I don't think I would even think about starting each evening run off the batteries if the batteries were not at their 90% charge state.
