Go thru everything you plan to run and figure out the peak amp draw and the amp-hr draw (amps the device draws times the duration that it is on. If it's 120v a rough estimate is 10 times the amps for 12v) Figurme maybe 30% of the rated battery amp-hrs can be used without damaging the batteries.
If you come up with a crazy big battery bank, you probably need to go generator.
If it's a really small battery bank and you only plan to boondock for a single night at a time, probably better to skip both generator and solar.
