Going from memory.....
With the switch to "Auto" and no AC 115V power, there should be an amber and green light on the fridge. If the gas didn't light then both lights will flash. The control board runs off of the 12V battery and will drain it down but you should get at least 2 days out of it.
There's no door heater switch on my Norcold 611, it's hard wired "on". Bummer - my old Dometic had a heater switch.
