Storing my Class A for 1 month

I will be leaving my Class A motorhome at a campground outside storage facility for the month of February. I plan on coming back the first week of March to spend another week or 2 in the Gulf Shores area. I plan to empty my fresh water and grey/black tanks before I leave. My coach has a battery disconnect switch so I do plan to cut off the power for the month that I am gone. I also plan to use the leveling jacks as well. I apologize because I am sure this topic has been covered before. Have I covered all the bases or am I missing something? Any ideas or opinions would be appreciated!

That might be OK in TX but we want ours as dry as possible up here in the cold Midwest.
  • one month shouldn't really kill your batteries since you turned the disconnect switch to OFF. I use the RAID bug bombs that you place in a cup with a little water because they don't leave any film or smell and it also gives you some time to get out. I totally dry out fresh/gray/black water tanks and water heater by opening all drain valves over night. Also don't forget to empty the inline water filter if you have one. AS for the black tank I empty and clean and libricate the toilet valve. Then flush the tank several times with pinesol or the like. The next day I close all valves so critters don't crawl in and make a home. For one month you choose on whether to put the feet down or not.
  • Thanks for all the advice. I can always come to this forum to get some answers to my questions.

Although I am going to use the battery disconnect switch inside my coach, I wonder if my coach batteries will still have some juice after sitting for a month. Should I unhook the cables on the the outside as well?Any thoughts on this?

Spray the inside of the rig with a good bug spray just before you lock it up.
  • I'd empty the water and and don't forget to also empty the water heater.

Yes to unplugging. Yes to propane being turned off.

I'd actually leave the stabilizers up. There's really no point in leaving them down.
  • I don't plan on blowing out the water lines since the average low for February is 49 degrees. Thanks for all the input.

If the fridge is turned off make sure the door is open, You can hold it open (At least a few inches) by many different means.

I assume the weather is not likely to freeze there. If so blow out the water lines.. (Please dont use the pink stuff in the fresh lines, Major pita to clean it all out when you put 'er back in use) (you thought I was goign to go environmental didn't you.. Well that too but it's the PITA that worries me most.. What's a PITA,, Pain In The Anatomy (Or a flat bread, but bread don't fit here).
  • I would leave the water tank full. The less air in the tank, the less algie and other stuff growing in the tank.
  • MT Ref and turn off, take anything out that will bring in ants or rodents. Turn off propane, I would probably even unplug it.
