Stove rattle

Hello, camping people:

We just got back from our second trip since we got our new MH last weekend. I love the MH - we moved up from a TT and truck. However, one thing is driving me crazy. The stove rattles going down the road. We put a towel under the lid and weighted the top with a heavy cutting board, but it still rattled. I'm thinking of taking off the cover (it folds up and protects the back wall), but I'm afraid that it's functional, and not just to keep the burners clean.

Does anyone have experience with this? Do you take the cover off, or do you pad it in some way? Strap it down? I can't put more weight on it, as I'm afraid it might bend.

Thanks!

  • We solved our rattle problem by raising the stove top put some newspaper down lowered the top and pushed down to latch no problems.
  • You might want to check if the rubber grommet is missing between grate and stove top. I had one of those missing and the grate would rattle like heck going down the road
  • The flap in the exhaust vent drove me crazy. Finally put clear duct tape over the exhaust outside and solved that problem. In four years of RVing we have never needed to use that vent.
  • Thanks to all for the responses. It gives me a few avenues to pursue. I just can't stand rattles!

  • Mine was different. Propane supply line would rub/rattle against the top. I gently bent it down to clear.
  • Took the cover off. Haven't seen it for years. Actually don't even remember where I put it!
  • Hi there,

I'd try to have someone back there for a few minutes while under way- nail it down to what specifically is making the racket. It may be one of the racks inside. We had a noisy stove on our last rig too- the wooden cutting board made to fit over the burners fixed it. It had rubber "feet" that fit over the grate over the burners. It sounds like you probably have something else going on though
