Too many comments to hit on all of them so I'll hit on this one.
Owning your own place ties you down to that one location. We like to go to different places, see different things, meet different people.
Always going to that same secluded patch in the middle of the forest gets pretty boring after a while.
I already have a home to maintain. Having a second property just means more work. The first thing I need to do when I arrive is mow the grass. That is just the beginning of it.
It sounds great when you talk about it but the reality of it is somewhat different.
