As a Hoosier, like the OP, I would like to apologize to the forum.
The OP went to the most visited state park in Indiana, one that has close to 700 sites (the park is 16,000 acres), and then complains because there are kids, trucks, etc.
Wow.
I love Brown County State Park. I also know which site to book (and I'm not sharing) and we no longer go there unless we can get that site.
Also, the Buffalo Ridge loop is nothing like a KOA.
OP, we have many state parks that are less crowded. Maybe you should give one of those a shot. Indiana has a great state park system (although sites are a little overpriced, IMO) and there are other places you can go that will get your somewhat away from the crowd.
