DO NOT give out your insurance info at the scene and let it become record on the police report.
Bad advice. This can result in fines in MA if not done in a timely manner. Insurance information is not listed on a MA Collision Report form
but you do not want your info out there for the other party's insurance to be able to deal with.
You absolutely DO want the other party's insurance company to deal with yours. Otherwise it is you PERSONALLY who will have to make any financial amends. Besides, that's what we pay them for. Isn't this why we have insurance, to make sure the insurance company pays out accordingly?
Long story, but you can easily be negotiated to partially at fault between the insurance companies even if you were stopped at a red light with your foot on the brake and got rear ended in broad daylight.
And this can happen regardless of what info you supply. There's no legitimate reason to not give your insurance company info to all parties involved.
