Always chock your trailer wheels before unhooking not matter how level the site looks, especially when your wife is inside! Always, Always, Always.
Also, you cannot stop a four ton trailer from rolling by grabbing the tongue jack. It also does not stop the screaming from inside the trailer.
:p Unfortunately I,too, have some experience to offer. I tried to back my small pop-up into a sloping site. It was difficult because there were trees on both sides of the drive. Finally, in frustration I set the parking brake and got out of the car. My 19yo son was with me, so I had him raise the tongue and take it off the ball, while I ran around to the front to hold it in place. :E Note: this is a VERY bad idea.
I dug my heels in with my back to the PUP, while my son struggled to hold it by the nose. Thankfully, a kindly stranger in a 5th wheel came by about then and jumped out to save us. He came around to the front with me and together we moved the PUP down the slope without incident. I thanked him profusely and to his credit he didn't laugh. He did make me promise NEVER to do that again. Advice taken!
OP, buy at least one set of chocks. We use the yellow wedges but there are others out there. Put the chocks down after you level and before you unhook.
I could tell you about the time I hit a building and tore off a 20-ft strip of roof on a 4 month old trailer...naaaah!
