It has taken me years to convince my wife that she doesn't have to take all of the food and supplies we will need for the entire trip from home. You can buy food and supplies nearly anywhere you are going and it will save wear and tear on the cabinets and lessen the chance of a cabinet opening up while traveling and spread everything all over the camper.
Just shop every couple of day for food (unless you are boondocking) which allows you to change your mind on what's for dinner.
Had that problem myself.. Finally succeeded.. Though that said, we had a few food suppliers at home that were a tad better than the local A&P (yes we had A&P back then) For example we got Eggs direct from the producer at the local farmer's market. Or we could get them same day (just a few hours later) from a local store for slightly higher price.
What you get at most supermarkets has been a few days since it last saw a chicken. (Believe it or not my mother once worked for Kroger's Egg Plant in south central lower Michigan (Coldwater I believe) as an accountant).
There is just no way to get 'em "Farm Fresh" from a supermarket.
(By the way.. There is a thread somewhere about "Have you ever had anything stolen" the reason I mentioned A&P is when I found Id lost my breakfast (Those very eggs) Before I had a chance to eat it A&P is where I got the replacements)
