I know my diatribe is non-responsive to the original question too, but I am sick of people trying to push their political views when the discussion is not, in any way, a political discussion.
What political views would that be? That it's a good idea to not take guns into Mexico? That's not a political stance, it's common sense. He said he's a shooter too, so I doubt he's opposed to guns on political grounds.
