Liberty Harbor RV park is a parking lot, from everything I have seen and read. Close to the city if you want to make frequent trips, and spend several days in NYC.
For us, New York City was a one day event. We stayed at the KOA in Newburg, NY, and paid a tour bus to take us to the city. Guided tour to the Statue (not allowed inside), Empire State Building, Lunch at Grand Central Station, etc... Picked us up at the KOA---12 hrs later, they dropped us back off. I didn't have to park, did not have to find my way around. We live in Pittsburgh, the "T" goes under ground in the city. I really did not need to get the subway experience.
Plus the newburgh KOA is only a 30 minute drive to Orange County Choppers. Wife and I bailed on the other couple we were with, checked out the bikes (they are more awesome in person) and had lunch in their cafe. Even got a picture of Senior while there.
