My favorite is a Craftsman tool set that comes with sockets, wrenches, pliers, hammer, screw drivers along with a bunch of other tools all in one plastic case where each tool has a molded spot in which to sit. You open it up and just about every tool you need is there and it's easy to make sure you have replaced every tool in the correct spot at cleanup.
In addition, I have a plastic tackle box type toolbox to keep all of the special type tools that may be needed. Like a kitchen sink tool, brake adjuster, handsaw, hacksaw...etc. This toolbox also has compartments for screws, nail and other small items you end up with or need.
