We've spent hours educating ourselves this weekend about the different types, sizes, and weights of travel trailers, and have been led to one that we initially dismissed out of hand.
Casitas, mentioned in a very helpful post, seem to be scarce on the East coast, but ironically because of the no doubt good advice that poster has given us about the instability of our Wrangler or Liberty as a tow vehicle, the Casita website features one of their smaller trailers being towed by a Liberty!Still doesn't mean it won't require careful handling and an eye on weather conditions.
Anyway- we are now looking seriously at a Spree Escape, 16', which does have a "regular" toilet and a separate shower. We had dismissed it initially in our search for a full bed,as it has the fold-down dinette, but have found the only trailers that have beds to be too big for our yard and too pricy for first-time buyers who have not tried out this way of travel. We want to park it in the side yard where it will be sheltered from storms and winds with the house as a wind break, and the Spree will fit.
The regular toilet, as opposed to the cassette toilet, is a welcome trade-off. And as much as I like the vintage look of the teardrop shape, it doesn't seem workable for us. I Loved the Cozy Traveler L'il Guy, but then the video revealed that the maximum interior height is 5'9", and my 6' tall husband declined to hunch over while inside!I suspect this is true of any with a teardrop shape, however charming they look.
And the process begins in earnest! Good on you:).
