What's not included in sale?

Having been researching my first TT purchase online extensively and will begin to visit dealers this week. Looking to purchase a new TT in the 30' range with bunks.

What is typically included as standard accessories and what accessories and equipment is needed to be purchased? Obviously I know I need to buy plates, linens, and other small things to stock the trailer, but what about mechanical accessories like power cords, sewage line, hoses, propane tanks, etc? Are they usually part of the sale package?

  • My propane tanks were standard, dealer listed purge and fill as a perk. Sewer hose I guess was usable but I just put it in the shed and bought a good one. I bought my own 30A extension and a better adapter. There were sample chemicals and TP in the welcome box. He threw in a hand full of 30% coupons for his store which I have not taken advantage of.

Hint: Buy your chocks before you go. Saves the scramble when you get home chasing down scrap wood!

It can vary a lot. It should include your shore power cord and propane tanks. It will probably include your sewer hose but they are normally very cheap and too short. You will probably want to buy some treatment chemicals for your black holding tank. Wheel chocks of some type are also needed. A white RV water hose and a pressure regulator are also on the list of things to buy. Do some research on this forum on voltage and surge protection. Lots of opinions but I wouldn't be without one after having had electrical damage. Typically dealers offer a discount at time of purchase on accessories but check out prices at CW, Amazon, and Walmart to know in advance if it's truly a good price.

I agree, except for the chemical part. Chemicals are not necessary and typically a waste of money. Just start the black tank with a few gallons of water each time and all will be fine.
  • Make a list of what you need. Try to get the stuff added to the deal after price is set. Many campers that I had bought they throw in a starter package. Water hose, toilet paper, black tank chemicals, dump hose with fittings. Try to get all you can. As jmtandem said they would rather give you nothing.

  • Very little is included. You will need a jack and lug wrench, chocks, water pressure restrictor, tools, and probably everything that you want inside the trailer. Some dealers will charge a fee for a 'starter kit' that is mostly profit for the dealer but might include a sewer hose, a water hose and some chemicals for the toilet's black tank. Otherwise you are pretty much on your own to get the trailer ready for camping.
