That's what we did. We decided we'd get by without a car and if we went on a long vacation we'd rent a car for a couple of days at the destination. It seemed a good idea. We drove to Colorado and rented a car from Enterprise and had quite a nice time.
We do most of our RVing within 100 miles of home, so one of us just drives the car when we do that.
But even though we were able to make it work, having our own car is a godsend. Rent very much and you'll go a long way toward buying a tow dolly or preparing your car to tow 4-down.
But Grit dog's answer is quite logical. Give it a try like we did. You can always arrange to tow later if you need to.
Do you have a car now that could be towed? A front-wheel drive or towable rear-wheel drive? If you have to replace a car that's pretty major; preparing one you already own to tow -- not so bad.
