they are very high quality. However a couple of comments. they were designed in days of old, when bread slices were smaller. seems like everything gets bigger with time. So... you either need to get sandwich sized bread, or cut bread to fit for the rectangular ones.
they also have a round one, and interestingly around here the thin round sandwich bread buns fit perfectly.
grandkids love the cheese sandwiches, I like a rueben. yup, come out great. and also makes a nice apple or berry pie.
and yes, get the carrying case. and season them well, just like any cast iron.
between rome pie irons, lodge dutch ovens and maytag firepit we hardly ever need to use the propane grill anymore.
Must be the size of the bread you buy (in reference to the square ones). We use sandwich or king thin bread and the fit about perfectly in the square pie irons. The round one of course are smaller and the round thins fit good in theme for making pizza pockets and etc. We also use the round ones for english muffins (breakfast sandwiches) and cinnamon rolls.
