Who parks their RV at home or do you pay for storage?

In our driveway, covered with a tarp in the winter, batteries disconnected plugged into a dedicated 30 amp circuit. There is room for one vehicle behind the RV, the other one is parked on the street in front of the house.

We live in an small city that allows parking of an RV up to 10 meters long on the property. At least every 4th house has some sort of an RV or boat (sometimes both). In many communities on Vancouver Island you will see a variety of boats and RVs parked in driveways or beside houses, even right in town.

There is an uncovered RV storage lot about 2 miles from home, I have no idea what they may charge.

One disadvantage to parking at home, is that when the RV is away, it can be assumed the house is empty.

i live just outside town, and built an area to the side of the garage, complete with 30 amp RV plug in. Thing is, they are widening our road this year, so I had to rent an outside spot outside of town....so that I can actually camp this year. If not, I felt like I'd get trapped in my own driveway during construction season!

I forgot the fee. It is about $1.00 per day plus taxes, if you sign up for a yearly spot.

Lived in a neighborhood with HOA when I got the first motorhome. HOA said no to parking at home. I sold that house a bought one without HOA, poured a concrete pad, put 30 amp service, and an aluminum RV cover up. I like having my toys close by so I can watch out for them.

The first time the weatherman calls for hail, you'll be glad you have covered storage. To me the extra money was worth the piece of mind when extreme weather is forecast.

BTW - after seeing some of the prices the rest of you are paying... I'll stop complaining about what I pay.

You guys and your cheap covered storage. I'm so envious. The cheapest covered storage i can find is about $250/month here in central NC. If you look hard, you might find climate-controlled storage...but it's $500/month!! :E

I posted something on Craigslist looking for someone that may have gotten out of RVing and might still have an RV carport or garage or something they wanted to rent out. That didn't pan out, but I did find an individual who lives close by that rents small parcels of land out for RV and boat storage for $25/month. Just an open field. I asked him if I could erect an RV carport on his property, rent the space out for the $25 a month, and then after about 5 years when we'll likely take a break and start thinking about college and stuff for the girls, I'll stop renting the space...and he gets to keep the carpot. I thought it was a pretty good deal...and he agreed. Then he can rent it out to whoever for whatever he wants. I get covered storage...and in the long run, I'll save money over the expensive covered places that are nearby -- of which there are very few.

I keep my class C at home, inside. We live in a Morton building with small living area (1700 sq ft) and large garage (3600 sq ft) with a 12H X 15 wide sliding door. No heat so cold in winter and hot in the summer. Built while we had the Shadow Cruiser fifth wheel so no trouble when we upgraded. Don't have the height for a class A so I think I'm safe. My big toy box building!

NOPE!!!! $25/year is correct. can't beat the price!!! Lot is graveled, locked, barbed wired and secluded and I can watch the entrance from our house. Know most of the other users. Lot holds 50 trailers, and is about 3 acres total!! No reason to keep it in the driveway!! In 30 years there have been no reported thefts, or damage to any RV stored. Store my 35' outback in one spot and my 14' cargo/toyhauler in another one for a total of $50/year.

From 1978-2000 it was free, but the nominal fee was added to pay for new graveling etc. and some improvements.
