winterizing trailer but still using it in winter.

Hello All,
so okay so I know how to winterizing the trailer BUTTTT. I have it out on property and go out there just about every weekend. It is a pain to have blow out the lines before we leave. So I was thinking and please tell me what you think. When I go out to the property I hook up to city water. (I don't use fresh water tank) so I was thinking if I was to put antifreeze in the fresh water tank and before I leave turn off the city water and turn on the pump and pump antifreeze through system.the pump won't let antifreeze by. Then when I come back to the trailer I can hook up city water an flush out the antifreeze.would this work.I do realize you can buy the hand pump but if I do that I might as well just blow them out with air.. Thanks

  • I'd agree with Artum Snowbird, no "pink" in the fresh tank. I didn't do this personally, but I read of someone hooking up a cheap water pump that they would just connect to the fresh water inlet outside after using the RV, hooked up to city water. Would connect that pump, then pump the RV antifreeze thru the system. Took just a few minutes for them.

Personally, we use RoadAbode like Artum Snowbird said (Bringing in water) when it's cold out. Also we still use the toilet, Just make sure to put some RV antifreeze in there to keep it from freezing. Good luck - but one way or another, you can still have fun using your RV! Peace,
    RoadAbode
  • A much better solution would be to winterize properly, and then take fresh water with you in five gallon containers.

Your water system will stay winterized except for your drains, and you use your transported water to wash, cook, clean, etc. Take along a few gallons of RV antifreeze and pour it into your emptied black and grey tanks, then add some to the traps and the black and grey tank before you leave.

You will still need to haul the trailer out once in a while to drain off the black and grey tanks, but never put antifreeze in your fresh water tank..ever!
