? Ques? Desert Bloom ATV Rally - Quartzsite

Valentine's Day Weekend.

What's it like? Never been to an ATV rally/jamboree.

Our intrest is in the riding - years ago gave up going to m/c rallies, no interest in the same old leather, patch, pin & flea market vendors. In ATV riding we're only interested in trail/scenic riding, no interest in racing, drowning in a mud pit or climbing rock piles.

(subjective question) Is it worth the vacation time here instead of Utah/Colorado? We'd probly arrive 2-3 days early & stay 2-3 days after, make it about a 2 week trip including travel.

Aside from the rally, what's the ATVing like? All 'flat' desert or do you get up into hills & mountains?

Is there anything else going on in the area at this time?
  • Quartzsite has some excellent ATV riding, from flat desert to steep winding mountain trails. The trails are on BLM, state and Indian lands and each has a different set of rules, so make yourself aware of the various rules. If you normally carry while riding, stay off Tribal lands. If your ATV is registered in your home state AND your state has reciprocity with AZ, you are good to go. If not, AZ has NO provision for a temp permit and there is NO way you can register them in AZ as a non resident. We enjoy the riding there.

Personally, I prefer UT to AZ for riding. We ride the UT Paiute Trail system, 2200+ miles, every couple of years and IMO, it is much better trails and much more scenic than Q. We will be going to the Richfield UT ATV jamboree this Sept for a week. Have ridden the Marysvale UTV/ATV Jamboree several times and had a ball.

What's it like? very crowded, very noisy and very dusty :)

If you're just in it for an enjoyable ride, go to Q any other weekend (except the last 2 weeks of Jan) and you'll have the same nice desert trails to yourself.

desert riding is fun when my favorite trails in Co are all covered with 4 ft of snow. I'm on permanent vacation and ride every other day, in whatever state I'm traveling through. But if I had only a few weeks vaca each year to go ATV, it would be the Colorado mountains in summer.
