Bought an older rv. according to manual I can unplug 110 and on the fuse panel I can switch over to 12volt with a rocker. The rocker is not present. Manual provide no pictures. How can I make 12 volt live off battery? Currently does not work without switch. Battery has charge!

Never heard of any switch? Unless you mean a battery disconnect switch. This will be a fairly large switch, usually red in color located between the converter and battery. Lights should all be 12 volt, so if when unplugged you have no 12VDC, then you either have a dead battery, or blown fuse

Donn.....battery is on a frame and fuse box in rear of camper. Where would convertor be?

Assuming you have a converter feeding a 12VDC FUSE PANEL...This is typical wiring block diagram for the 30AMP system...I would work towards using a converter/charger and install a Power Distribution Panel which supports all of your 120VAC circuit breakers and 12VDC Fuse panel...Typically the 12VDC power distribution panel id fed by both the converter/charger and the battery. This is the way things like your ceiling lights can work when you are plugged into shore power or running off your battery.This is what a typical POWER DISTRIBUTION PANEL with the Converter/Charger installed in the bottom compartment looks likeIf your trailer does not have one of these it would be good idea to get one installed where you can have all of your power items in one location separately feeding all of your 120VAC and 12VDC circuits.Who knows what the fire dept did to your trailer...Roy Ken

Usually installed under the fridge or the stove... The older trailer may not have them. Your fuse panel on the rear sounds like a add-on...This is what a typical POwer distribution panel looks like with the lid/door opened..This late 80s version Terry doesn't appear to have one under the fridge or stove in this photo...Newer trailers will have something like this under their fridge or stove...Roy Ken

Need a photo or make and model of the converter- there were manual switch options, but there were also automatic options.Is there a hole where this switch was?

Measure your existing battery box. The measurements of this 29DC are listed on the web page. If your existing box is too small, get one that will fit this battery.

I was looking for a link to the Walmart batteries at the beginning of this thread- every size was listed as out of stock.

actually I was there today. looked like half the marine batteries were absent. That time of the year I suppose. I will go again Saturday. I will look for cases. Thanks.

One more time....what is advantage of 31 over smaller? I really only care to have minimal lighting on.

If you happen to go to Walmart, as westend suggested you will also see the plastic battery boxes as I described, get one to fit the new group 31

The plastic housing you are referring to is nothing more than a battery box to hold that size of battery. The battery is simply sitting inside it.

Remove both & get a group 31 with plastic battery box. It looks like you have adequate space from here.
