I'll be honest... Sounds horrible! If your family is anything like mine, everyone will be tired and cranky. It will take the majority of the vacation to unwind from the trip, then you gotta drive back again.
I wouldn't do it. We do a (almost) yearly Florida trip, 2000 miles round trip. We drive halfway, stop for a few nights in Savannah, then finish the 960 mile one way trip. On way home we stop in Charleston for a few nights. Those stops help break things up.
Consecutive days of travel tend to have an exponential affect on my family...
