Why not just fly into Cody,Wy , rent a car, & stay at one of the hotels in Yellowstone if that's the vacation theme ?
As said by others, 2 days pulling RV for 12hrs each , you'll be beat . We just made a dash from here in East Texas to Elkhart, Indiana . I planned on nearly 3days on road but made it in 2long ones & I was tired. This with no kids.
Sounds expensive!
You funding the trip?
To the OP, you're kind of asking this question on the wrong forum. Most of the members here drove 55 mph for 6 hours a day cuz they have all year to get where they're going and next year to return, lol!
600 mi days aren't bad, especially with your kids ages. Yes they will be long days, but not that long. That's only like 12 HR drives.
3 deep in the back seat is a little crunchy. I've got 2 kids and with only 2, they can stretch more, lay down, etc.
We've punched out more than a few good road trips over the years with the kids. When they were little, we'd roll a 8-900 mi jaunt to the Ozarls and back from CO or NM. Leave late afternoon. Kids fall asleep after stopping for dinner and wake up for breakfast about the time we'd get there.
Countless other trips like that too.
This summer we took the camper from Seattle to WI and back. MT fishing, Yellowstone, Rushmore, etc. about 5000mi overall. Most days were short trips or no real driving except sight seeing.
1 900 mi run from Black hills to WI, 1 day
Return trip 1900 mi, 2 days. That second day of 1000 mi sucked, but Better than spending the whole trip driving 3-400 mi per day.
Just keep the DVDs playing, snacks served up and tablets charged. They'll be fine. Lots of kids got worse lives than being able to take an awesome vacation!
