20 Year Seamless RV Roof Sealant

Just saw this in a Family Motor Coach Association newsletter.
Wonder if anyone has tried it?

It's a spray on called RV FlexArmor™. Pricey but if it really holds up for 20 years it would be worth it to me.

  • I think rvroof.com will be franchising their stuff out, because as of now, if I want that type of roof, it is their place in Florida or nowhere. It would be nice if they had dealers nationwide that would offer their service.

To me, if I were buying non-aluminum TT or motorhome and keeping it for the long haul, after I upgraded all vents to Fan-Tastic models (with covers), to me, I'd definitely take a rig there to have the roof and area around the top lights sprayed. It is expensive, but it means that the only thing I'd have to worry about is physical damage to the roof like a branch tearing a hole. No need to Eternabond, no caulking every six months, etc.
  • Since rvroof.com claims to use a unique formula who would repair the roof if they did go out of business?

I've looked at their product and like it very much especially the fact they remove all air conditioners and such to do a complete job. I simply can't afford or justify their product. The company going out of business and the warranty becoming worthless was not even a concern of mine.

I have an aluminum roof and have been looking at a local spray on place that is less expensive.
  • Is the 20 year warranty pro-rated? If it goes bad will they include labor to re-do it? Is the warranty backed by an insurance company or bonding company so you will coverage if they go out of business? These are all questions I would be asking before laying out that kind of money...

  • I don't have any pictures at the moment but in the next couple of days I'll go over to the storage lot and take a few and then post. I need to take a few pictures of the new paint job too. Just haven't had the time.

I had my roof done by David's Permanent Coatings, Inc this past April. Cost is $135.00 per linar foot. I have a 37' coach and total cost was $4839.00 including tax. It has made the home quieter and cooler. Plus, all the seams that needed chalking are now gone. They did a beautiful job. I took the coach to them on Tuesday and picked it up on Thursday afternoon. I had been having the roof done yearly at a cost of about $500.00. My MH was twelve years old and needed a new roof at a cost of approximately $3500.00 plus I would still have to pay the yearly maintenance upkeep. I justified the cost this way plus I have a 20 year warranty and no maintenance. Again the roof looks great and goes great with the new full body paint I had done by Mike's Custom Painting in Indiana.

You just about have me sold, khahuna. If I were younger I might try the other suggestions of DIY but from my pov one slip would land me with a hospital bill that's exponentially larger than that of the coating. Now is the price inclusive of labor?

  • that $135 a foot rings a bell about another recent post. is this rhino lining type of material or just some magic silicone spray?

    #$@!%#$^ that!!

I can get a 5 gallon pail of Gaco 50 year roofing silicone for $300 bucks. A few rollers and an afternoon and my roof will last longer than me.

Had a contractor do just that on my neighbors stick and brick. That stuff is NICE!! This contractor said this is all he will use now. He said he has done a lot of roofs with this stuff and never had a peel or a comeback.
  • The cost is about what it would be to have someone do a 30' motorhome ($4100). I can do it cheaper myself.
