This should be an ecotec 4.3 V6 which is 285 HP (more than most V8's of not long ago) with 305 lb ft of TQ. Which is class leading torque for a V6 full size truck. It has NOTHING In common with its predecessor except the displacement and manufacturer.
It's stout and will tow. I would not be looking at 5,500 lb dry camper though. I would probably be looking at a 4,000 lb ish dry camper.
