If I Could get that 4.3 in an 8600 2500 like my 2000, with the6 sp auto, 4.10 gears, I'd pull my equipment trailer with it! Used to tow a 12K equipment trailer with a 4bbl 454 with a whopping 235hp and 385 torque. 3 sp auto and 4.10 gears, what a joke ofa twuck, Worst one I've ever owned! 2nd worst was a tbi 454 with 3.73 gears and the th400 3 spd....... I digress.
You will get to your camping spots safe and sane. NO not as fast as one of the 400/900 diesels.....enjoy the trip, even if you go to Yellowstone......ask yourself, will you do this yearly, or 2x in life time as I am so far.....
