It think you mean the Grand Cherokee - Overland? They've no influence on the vehicle when the transmission is disengaged and power turned off. There might be base plate mounting considerations to avoid the equipment ( will). The Overland has air suspension which does need to be taken off - auto/exit - which lowers the vehicle for exit when turned off. Shut off that feature to tow.

The new Cherokee is a wonderful vehicle. It's beautiful inside. Make sure you get the model that can be towed 4-down.

It supposedly took the place of the Jeep Liberty which was discontinued but this is more of a luxury car. If the clearance is anything like the Liberty you'll have no issues doing some of the harder trails. You won't have to stick with the mild ones. We always kept up with the Wranglers on our outings. Lots of fun!!

By the way...Consumer Reports has always given Jeeps poor ratings but it's amazing how many very satisfied Jeep owners are out there. Our '04 Liberty has 180,000 very troublefree miles on it when it was sold a few months ago. We did a lot of 4-wheeling with it including Silverton, CO and Moab.

My 2015 Cherokee limited, with "ACTIVE DRIVE II",3.2L V6,4x4 has been
towing 4down OK so far for about 3000 miles.
The Active Drive II OPTION ,4x4 is a must have! check the owners manual for "Recreational Towing".
I still own the Saturn Vue.

OMG, people can do his or her own research. Consumer reports is horrible and in bed with many companies. Secondly, in the last 20 years of being in and around the Air Force and helped many people purchase vehicles, I have only seen one dealer buy back. A Toyota.

I have owned all Chryslers since 1997 until this year, bought a used Ford Taurus SHO. All MOPAR and one Ford. ZERO issues.

I have a 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk and a 2012 Wrangler that is modified for off-road. I would only take the Trailhawk on mild 4x4 excursions. It is capable, but the risk of getting in a position and not getting out off road is a concern.

Love my Cherokee, BTW. Nice vehicle.

I would not buy one due to "much worse than average reliability" reported by Consumer Reports and its subscriber's own experience as owners. First year reliability has been much below average. If I was buying, I'd look for other 4X4 options. It it's your only choice, the best option is the 3.2-liter V6 in Limited trim as the 4-cylinder is slow and gets "lousy fuel economy for the class- just 22 mpg overall".

This ghost is in many years and models of many Chrysler vehicles.

Just make sure it has has the flat tow modification performed for the electric power steering wobble issue that arose last year.
