Here is what I do which isn't listed. I have had all the same problems everyone has, a fellow RVer told me to do this LAST STEP and it works for me: go to the main screen (where the radio is displayed) hit (home) then (settings) then (display) then (turn display off). I haven't driven over 400 miles at one time but have driven over 4,000 mi. with car attached and no dead battery.
