46 Month old Maxxis tire

No rubbing and never low on air. Never curbed AFAIK, just the standard common pot holes along the way. America's Tire is giving one tire free as a warranty replacement. I am still keeping the spare that had never been on the ground until yesterday. It will serve as the spare for the Goodyear Endurance tires.

Tires were pretty fresh. Certainly not two years old when installed. Yes I would have been happy with six years as provided by the warranty.

Just glad to see this now vs. some lonely road in NV or UT.

Maxxis is not keeping up with the crowd. IMO they were once better than some tires made in China but they are no longer better than the latest ST tire construction and speed ratings available from other brands.

What particular brand are you thinking? We have 16 inch maxxis on our 5er now but eventually they will need replacement.(Almost 15000 Kms now and in there 3rd season.) Within a few months of Brand new by the date code when installed in 2014

I called Maxxis when putting them on my TT. They said if you buy directly from them, the tire SHOULD be no older than 2 years old when you receive it. If bought from a distributor, or online they have no control over it.
I bought 5 online, they ranged from 2 to 2 1/2 years old at time of delivery, per date codes. Now that 5 or 6 year warranty is more like 3 years.

When a tire wears on one side like that .... I suspect either...
1: You are rubbing up against curbs with it =OR=
2: Vehicle alignment/suspension issues.


And not necessarily in that order.

Are you saying that the warranty starts when the tire is manufactured? I thought the warranty would start when you actually purchased the tires, and would run from date of purchase.

My new Goodyear Endurance were 14 weeks old when purchased.

Coming from a long line of blown trailer tires, anyone that thinks that is curb rash or something needs to get better bi focals! That tire is blown UP. Broken radial belts, look at the bulge. Classic trailer tire behavior.
The only ST tires Ive seen that didn't have that problem are the ones that it hasn't happened to yet! Luck of the draw.

But, BUT....... That is a Maxxis tire, it had to be the fault of the operator!

fj12ryder That is what Maxxis told me word for word. The warranty is based on the date code, and even buying direct from them, expect to get a tire manufactured about 2 years earlier.
