921 LED Question

Toyhauler garage with one dual-921 light mounted on ceiling.

Looking for more light, if possible. Standard 921 bulbs are barely okay. Is there a super-bright LED bulb that will work?

Not yet an LED user, have done a little www research. It appears a lot of them are too hot for most RV applications. I don't want bulbs so hot they'll melt the plastic holder but I don't care if the cap/cover is on or not, which may offer some air circulation & cooling.
  • If you are looking for max brightness look for a 42SMD LED that is the flat panel design and is Bright white. Bright white tend to have an institutional blue/white but are far brighter than white or soft white. But for a garage that may not be a big deal. The flat bulbs tend to distribute light better then the round bulbs.
I am not sure I would worry about heat, mine are way cooler than regular incandescent.
  • I have never had much problem with hot LED's. Now Halogen that is a horse of different color. Very Hot.
  • I've never been a fan of the flat LED replacements because the light has been too directional for me. I prefer the 68 SMD direct replacement bulbs for more even light.. Usually get them from eBay. I run all LED lights and never have had a problem with them being too hot.

LEDs are not hot .... certainly not hot enough to melt plastic, let alone hurt to touch. Your substitute LED for the 921 bulb may be found here: SuperBrightLEDs
I suggest you browse the website a bit. There is considerably more you may want than just the page my link sends you to.
