My wife liked the outdoors so she convinced me that camping would be fun. I was kind of skeptical because I had camped in the Boy Scouts and later on was given the opportunity to "camp" by Uncle Sam. I swore I would never sleep on the ground in my life again. So we bought a (ab)used pop up which we coaxed back to life (a great adventure in itself). Looking back at it, it was a beater, but we were proud of it. So away we went on our first adventure.
We went to a little Mom and Pop CG on the Eastern shore of MD, right on the Bay. It was Fall, and toward the end of the season, so there were very few people there. After "Mom" checked us in, "Pop" stated "It gets mighty windy on the point, do you have a way to strap that thing down" WHAT? :E "Mom" shushed him and convinced us that we would survive.
"Pop" then came along and wanted to help me back into the site. Guess I wasn't quick enough for him because he reached into the cab of my pickup and grabbed the wheel.
I never saw a Beagle fly before. Pepper came up from behind the front seat and tried to defend me by eating "Pops" arm. Luckily, I was able to snag her and my wife helped hold her before she got a bite. Never saw her aggressive before and never saw her aggressive again. Guess she just wanted to make sure that no one hurt the supplier of dog cookies. LOL, "Pops" decided that he had enough for the day and retreated.
We had no further incidents that weekend and I was sold on RVing. We went through the logical progression - Pop up to TT to Class A. And never had a bad adventure. Some were better that others but I wouldn't trade the memories of any one of them in.
