A positive thread, post yours

Two weekends ago we were at one of our favorite RV parks celebrating DH's birthday with our camping group and various friends. We had a GREAT time! Other people at the park even commented about how much fun we had. Lots of smiles and laughter.

We went camping this past week and our neighbor was out picking up pine cones, stripping them of all their seeds and leaving a pile of his trash all over our site. What a mess.

I needed a template to mount a Onan generator. A Onan dealer in Elkhart is sending me one for free.

Once upon a time we bought a camper. On our very first trip out, we ran out of propane in the middle of the night. We had three kids with us and it was 25 degrees (thankfully, we did have the sense to disconnect from the faucet the night before.) I cooked a hot breakfast in the microwave for the kids and DH went into town to look for propane. It was a very little town and Sunday, to boot. DH found a gas station, went in and asked where he could buy propane. A customer overheard him and said his brother sold propane, but his store was closed. The man called up his brother, who agreed to get up and open the store. DH followed the customer over to the brother's store and got filled up. By the time he got back, the kids were dressed and fed and ready for an adventure.

From this trip we learned to
1) always check the propane
2) bring a backup heat source
3) there are angels among us. :W

We spend every Labor Day at the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg car show in
Auburn, Indiana. This year, we combined our two loves, camping and
classic cars by camping in our mh. We even found an antique store to browse. The cg in Bluffton, In. was not crowded and quiet. The only
bad- an emergency run to Wal Mart for supplies I forgot to pack- turned out good, found a Boston cream pie on it's bakery.

In july we were headed across north cascades highway 20.. about 20 miles from cell service transmission decided to leak... immediately I pulled over.. I might of cussed a couple times... after rolling backward to a safer spot. The wife and I decided her and our 4 month old were staying and I was hitch hiking... the first person I raised my thumb to, pulled over. They made some jokes to my wife about stealing me, then we headed for cell service. They decided they would tow my tt the rest of the way for me. We reached cell service I called a tow truck to pick up my truck and deliver it 141 miles to my house! Then I road with strangers 2 hours to get their TV. Turns out exact TV as mine. We headed back up the mountain. All in all I was gone for 6 hours from my wife who had no cell service. We hooked up with my WDH. And continued on. They were the 2 best people I ever could have met. I ended up spending 500 on diesel, 418 for towing, and 800 for new seals in my transmission. Plus 3.5 roundtrips across the pass. The wife, our daughter and I had a great trip! It is what you make it... 3 weeks later, again crossing highway 20. First night I put a dent in my tail gate rushing around. Oops , I stopped rushing. Then, we ran out of propane at 2am. Oops, my fault. The DD needs the furnace on. Bundle her up and back to bed. This was another great trip.

At the last camping trip, there were children running through my site shrieking and laughing. It was my granddaughters and they were having the time of their lives!

My son-in-law made me the most sinful "Hobo pie" using bread, strawberry jam, and "Biscotti Spread".

Some of our best stories have been the results of breakdowns. Most people, when they hear of your distress, and willing and anxious to help. Even the tow truck drivers can be really full of good CG info. We broke down south of Pheonix one time, stuck for the weekend. The snowbirds were coming in that week. We were invited to the party. Ate like pigs, drank a couple of beers, had a great time. Broke down in north Arkansas once, stuck for a week, tow truck driver dropped TT off in CG, met a guy that lived 20 miles from our house. Another great time ensued. Attitude is everything. Just go with the flow. Out of cliches'. Bye!
