My husband and I are smokers. We hate it but we are addicted, we know we need to quit and all you ex-smokers know how hard that is. I wish I had will power, I really do, but I don't.
That said..I do try to be aware of all non-smokers around me. I try to stay in my little area, around my campsite, etc. I will walk away from a group, yet try to stay in ear shot of the convo. I will "stink up" my own TT, as long as the kids and grandkids aren't around. I will try to direct my smoke away from people and I don't leave my butts laying around. No need in being a piggy :)
If I was camping next to you, and you POLITELY come over to me and explain your wife's condition and that due to wind, etc, it is keeping her from enjoying the outside (or the inside). I would look for another spot not to bother her. If you come storming over screaming at me or being a smart a$$, promise, not only will I blow smoke your way, I will call my smoking friends to join in.
I don't like the fact that us smokers are "looked down upon" or given the dirty looks whenever we light up...but we made stupid decisions to "look cool" when we were younger and are now, paying the price.
Please be kind and respectful to me and I too, will be kind and respectful to you
