Adding LED light fixtures question

On my old trailer that we just sold, it had 12volt incandescent lighting and when I wanted to add new light fixtures, I would just daisy chain off one of the closest existing ones.
Our new trailer has all LED fixtures. Can I just do the same or is there anything special I have to watch out for?

That is true for 120V fixtures. 12V fixtures would not generally have a ground wire, and the wire colors may be a little more varied. If black and white, black is generally positive and white negative (which is usually chassis ground). If red and black or red and white, red is positive. If some other combination, your guess is as good as mine.

Occasionally there might be only one wire, with the mounting serving as the negative (ground) connection. That would be much more common for general vehicle lights like running lights or turn signals than for lights intended for RVs in particular.

  • Or just change out the bulbs (lamps) in the existing incandescent fixtures.

    Ok, thanks,

Now for another question: Do the new LED fixtures come with the wires or terminals marked for (+) and (-)?

I don't know. Try it both ways. No harm.
