If the Timbrens are not touching when loaded, they cannot be much help. There are spacers available to bring them into play and there will be a noticeable improvement in weight carrying comfort when they are helping the original equipment springs. They don't make that clear in the instructions, but try it for yourself. Timbrens sent me the required spacers free of charge.
