As stated by Old Biscuit, heck, as a kid growing up in the 50's, no telling what I handled and drank and also didn't wash my hands after doing said things, and at almost 65 yrs. of age I'm fine and didn't poison, make ill, or kill any of my friends or kin...
Some of this stuff is WAYYYYY over thought...I'm really not into watching how other people hook up or un-hook their unit's at campgrounds....Got too much to take care of in my own "back yard", so to speak...
I'd be whole lot more worried about the guy who might be wielding a machete or firearm in a menacing way...
