My Sony am/fm/cd changer has finally quit on the radio portion. CD and changer work fine. Of course this radio is no longer made. I guess that cd changers for the 10 cd system is not made at all anymore according to Sony!
I did find a new head for it on Amazon and figured it was worth a try, didn't change anything though. Checked the antenna input on back and its connected ok and roof antenna seems ok. What else is there to check....unless an internal issue...?
I would be checking the antenna and any connections to it. I've messed around quite a bit with 12V headunits and I've never encountered loss of radio without some other loss of function like CD player, etc. If the unit powers, you should be getting some sound from the radio tuner. Do you hear the typical AM hash when the volume is up and tuned to AM?
Lacking any response from radio function and a check of the potentiometers and fuses to be functional, a whole replacement, like Trackrig states, is not that much. If the mounting location is a larger space, like 3 DIN or 4 DIN, there are replacement bezel accessories that will allow for a seamless installation of a single or 2 DIN player. It might be possible to keep your changer to operate with a new headunit.
