X 2 on the Blue Coral wash from Walmart. I also buy Lucas Slick Mist and Turtle Wax 1 Step Wax & Dry both about $5 to $7 at WM. With either one just spray on after you rinse the rv and then wipe dry with a soft towel. For high areas, I use a Swiffer mop and stick the edges of the towel in the holes. (No going up and down ladder) Like the bear II says, it has a shine that looks like you spent all day waxing. I used to wax the rv twice a year with NuFinish and was exhausted at the end of the day. Now it is so simple, wash & wax takes about 2 hours, and I get lots of comments on the shine.

so, i would use the was & wax...... then use the turtle wax? or is there a was only from blue coral?

    would 1 bottle cover a 30' TT?

also..... does brush type matter? foam, hard bristle, soft bristle

    You're serious right??
Hey there's another thread about how to and what to use to clean the bathroom too. Better read up on that one. It garnered 3 pages of responses, lol.
Anyway, please tell us you're joking that you have to ask how to wash your RV......

Quite the rude comment. they were more concerned with how to wash the roof without damaging it. If you are not going to be insightful, there is no need to comment.

To clean my roof, i actually use my pressure washer set to a low psi. I used to use Dicor rubber roof cleaner. I also use their Rubber roof conditioner. I figure that it is cheap insurance as i do not want to spend $2k+ for a replacement roof.

For the rest of the camper, i use any automotive wash with wax in it. Once a year, i wax with Nufinish or spray on wax depending on how much time i have to work on it.
  • I'd rather ask and seem like a moron then using something that would tear my roof off.

  • hxcburrito: Use the Blue Coral and a soft brush to wash, then after you rinse off the soap, spray on the Lucas Slick Mist OR the Turtle Wax 1 Step, then dry down with a soft towel or cloth. Leaves a great shine. On a 30' rv you should use 1/2 to 2/3 of a bottle of the spray wax, whichever one you use.
  • I went with the Thetford combo for my TT.

    1) Rubber Roof cleaner in the manual spray bottle. I still have some left in the bottle after 2 uses. I used it with the long-handled soft brush.

    2) Wash and Wax - I used it with the same brush (after rinsing the brush well).

    3) RV Wax - This is the spray on, immediately wipe off variety. I can see the water beading off anytime I'm rinsing the RV (even without doing a wash).

Since I typically only do a full wash on the TT 1-2 times a year, I'm OK with spending just a little more for RV-specific products (especially since I bought them during a Thetford promotion at CW last year).

  • For the rubber roof I use just plain old water. I have a soft bristle brush with a long handle. It attaches to a garden hose and water flows through the brush. This allows me to scrub away the grit and grime while the water rinses it away.

Once the roof is done, I rinse off the sides of the trailer and scrub the grit & grime with the brush. I will use soap (Simple Green in spray bottle) to get rid of black streaks and bugs. Rinse again to get rid of the loose stuff. Then I use Turtle Wax Zip Wash & Wax https://www.turtlewax.com. You spray it on and rinse. It dries and has a shine that looks like you spent all day waxing.
  • Blue Coral wash from Walmart. wet trailer down then apply soap with long handle brush and then sponge wipe. works great!
  • My mh has a rubber roof and the manufacturer suggested spic and span to clean it and NOT to put anything on it. I however use Dawn soap, a bit of bleach, and water in a yard sprayer. Spray it on, let it sit, then wash it off with a garden hose. No hard rubbing, no need for protectants on the rubber. Use uv protectants on the plastic things on the roof.
