Still think the Andersen is a cool architecture and still think they are caught
in the details not dialed in (engineering wise)
Porpoising has to do with an input (tar strip, etc, that has a cyclical timing
that matches the natural harmonics of the setup)
Shocks the main component to manage, but shocks are designed for another section
of it's dampening curve. These undulations would require a much higher rated
dampening shock that would then cause folks to complain about ride quality
The main component is the spring release rates. Why the Andersen is so good at
NOT releasing the compressive force from one of those tar strip cycles.
But, I do not like how they package that sub-assembly. Not enough of them
and after someone posted that one swallowed the washer...says or confirms that
they need more of them (longer stack) and a bigger washer and/or a tube containing
them
Am very interested in the Blue Ox for now. Reports of bending a spring bar telling
on how well their anti-sway works...for those who didn't understand that...think
of how much force it takes to bend on...that is the resistance to off center movement
of the trailer that the spring bar imparts on it (there is a pull on the other
bar)
Steel spring bar, so it releases compressive forces FAST. Interesting to noodle
HOW2 incorporate a plastic disc into the Blue Ox design...or any other steel
sprung WD Hitch system.
