Antenna question

The arrow is 90 degrees off on the batwings

IF you have a wingman (UHF director array) then the Wingman points toward the stations, IF You do not than the antenna should be BROADSIDE to the stations, Does not matter which side.

Yep we follow the yellow line, regardless of where the little arrow is on the rotating wheel is pointing, the antenna travels less than a full revolution, so rotate the antenna until the image is as clear as can be, go outside look at the wings then imitate the wings with your arms and look at a compass, the transmitter is going to be in the direction that you are facing or 180 degrees, exactly opposite of where you are looking, the wings are going to be 90 degrees from the wings this method is used for navigation for aircraft and ocean going vessels, it is slowly being forgotten.

The most important thing to remember is to rotate the antenna to the stowing point and lower the darn thing, how many mangled antennas have you seen?

I have seen them flapping on the side of the RV trying to take off.

Thanks everyone, this makes sense now. I was trying to use the arrow inside the rv for the direction. As always great help and thanks SVCJEFF for the picture.

On My antenna I put a black mark at 90 degrees to the arrow on the side that has the extension for digital reception attachment. Just point the mark towards station and it seems to work fine. I also keep a map handy and compass to find out which way major city is, to help in locating stations.
