We do some volunteering at Big Lagoon State Park. Last year a new couple had just started hosting. A young lady camper came to visit them for a few minutes at their site. A little while later while they were a few sites away cleaning up, they noticed a car drive by with her at the wheel. It took a few seconds for the wife to realized she was driving their car! Authorities were notified quickly and she was stopped a few miles down the road. Apparently she entered their RV and took the keys. Lesson learned. Never leave your RV unlocked.
The other experience we had personally was while camping there last summer as resident volunteers. We weren't hosting but did share responsibility for keeping the restroom/shower in the volunteer area clean. DH walked into the mens room and found that the "phantom pooper" had made a visit. Right in the middle of the floor. After that we made sure to keep the doors locked so no one could wander in that didn't belong. Has anyone else had that experience?
Our responsibility as resident volunteers was cleaning our sister park at Perdido Key. I walked into the ladies restroom and found a tent-yes a TENT-stuffed into the commode. We also found quite an assortment of abandoned belongings in the parking lot and on the beach: kites, balls, toys, clothing, towels, sunscreen, shoes, etc, etc.
