April Trip to Assateague

Well, we've begun our 2017 camping season with a trip to Assateague Island. We left home last Monday morning, and I've been blogging about the trip here.

I'd love to have you read and comment on the blog. I try to make it interesting by focusing on the people we meet.

Let me know how you like the blog.

  • Let the reader determine if someone or something is "rare," "within a comfort zone" and happy with the size of the business by your presentation of facts...all pertinent facts. Otherwise a good start.
  • Any horseflies on the beach or is the wind keeping them away? Decades ago, we used to anchor our little boat in the bay and carry a picnic over to the beach. Often saw the wild horses and felt the bites of those monster flies which actually drew blood.

No horseflies. No bugs to speak of, because of the wind. One day there were a few no-see-ums, but the bug spray worked to keep them from landing and biting.

Thanks for the writing tips! I always appreciate an additional set of eyes on the stuff I write. Perspective is everything.

  • Any horses? That one is my list (although you have to book early because they really book up in the summer!) and I really want to see the wild horses.

The horses are all over the place. The first five minutes it's very cool seeing them. Then it becomes routine. Then they become annoying. Sometimes they even become dangerous.

  • Yup, I agree about the potentially dangerous part. My better half said when she opened the door to leave the shower house she was greeted by a horse looking directly at her 1ft away. Horse wasn't motivated about leaving so she took her shower bag and used it to cover her face and slowly moved out of the shower house and harms way.

Were heading back again this coming June, can't wait! :C

  • Had a great time there a couple of years ago. Used our National Park Pass.
  • I was just there a few weeks ago! Had a great time. Very relaxing after spending the first four days of that week exploring Washington DC. I really liked the southern portion of the island in VA and Chincoteague Island.
