which is what your thread really seems to be about after the recent confrontation…
Any previous thread was merely mentioned as raising the question. But as grown ups, we are all capable of discussing a related issue without rehashing any previous differing positions.
A previous poster with whom I didn't agree on another issue mentioned innkeeper laws, bringing up a valid point. It is divergent than the topic of that thread, but worth discussing.
IIRC, some people have mentioned campgrounds in (FL?) that modify their policies to be subject to or avoid certain classifications to avoid or collect fees associated with hotels and such. Maybe someone can refresh my memory on this? Does this affect their being subject to innkeeper laws, if they are?
So this thread is specifically requested to be a discussion on those laws, not applicability to any specific incident. Out of respect for the mods who closed that thread and other posters from that thread (of all positions), let's keep this about the laws, if they apply, and why you think they should or should not apply.
Personally, I believe your private property is yours to do with as you please. If you don't like the color of someone's shoes, or are in a bad mood, you shouldn't be required to do anything you don't want with your property and shouldn't have to justify it. As long as it is reasonable, legal, and doesn't harm others.
I am not sure I agree with the requirements to provide accommodations to people except for a few exceptions, but that's the way these laws appear to be written.
I found similar laws in more than 17 states before I started the topic.
I would appreciate it if we could simply move on with this topic, as I'm sure others would, too.
Thanks.
